Who We Are: the spark that starts the fire | |
|
Carolina Ethanol Partnership (CEP) is a newly created company from South Carolina that is committed to the production and distribution of cellulose ethanol. Cellulose ethanol is a type of alternative energy fuel that can be used as a substitute for gasoline in cars. This fuel is made by breaking down the glucose stored in plants through photosynthesis by means of a special production process. Ethanol is a clean and economic fuel, making it what CEP believes is the viable choice in alternative energy fuels.
Update: CEP is currently researching how to make ethanol from marine biomass resources. Its goal is to develop a process that can create a more economical fuel than what is currently possible in the cellulose ethanol industry. This process has great potential to become a major fuel provider for the United States. Once this research is complete, CEP intends to scale up from a laboratory process into a demonstration scale facility. With a proof of concept and successful demonstration facility laid as a foundation, CEP hopes to create the spark that starts the fire for further vigorous development. CEP hopes to be the leading producer of alternative energy in the Carolinas by 2015. CEP plans to accomplish this goal by partnering with businesses, state and federal governments, and private funding.
In the end, we want to manufacture a practical energy source, but we hope that the ethanol we sell fuels more than just our cars. We invite you to imagine a world that’s a little different. A world where people fill up at the pump and the money spent there goes to help those who need it the most. Click here to read CEP's vision.
