Sustainability goes beyond energy. With the world living under poverty, disease, war, and disaster, “being green” is only a small part of being conscious. Carolina Ethanol’s vision is that it would engage in the business world to make a profit so that it can help in the fight against suffering through its financial resources. CE hopes to use its earnings from ethanol production to support organizations that aid those affected by the world’s disasters and those living in the distress of poverty. Specifically, CE hopes to work with the church in their relief efforts to these communities. CE is itself a parachurch organization, which is any organization that collaborates with the church to engage in its work. CE desires to carry out Christ’s call to love and care to advance the gospel, and by working with the church, it hopes to make an impact in the lives of those affected by tragedy. CE is working for sustainability in both the clean fuel it provides, and in the communities it hopes be involved with. By selling ethanol, we hope to be fueling more than just our cars.
